PBSC Urban Solutions, the global leader in bike sharing solutions and urban mobility pioneer, is thrilled to announce that it has been selected to bring its award-winning bike-sharing solutions to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Santiago, Chile, marking the company’s expansion to yet another unique part of the world. As the second and sixth most populous cities in South America, Buenos Aires and Santiago join a list of cities across Brazil – São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro , Recife, Salvador, Porto Alegre and Vila Velha – which have all seen PBSC solutions deployed in the last 12 months alone.

Excitement awaits users on both sides of the Andes

The latest deployment in South America will consist of 4,000 of the industry-leading ICONIC model bikes distributed throughout 400 solar powered stations with lit smart map frames within Buenos Aires, as well as 3,850 FIT bikes and over 350 solar powered stations in Santiago, all of which are expected to be fully installed beginning of 2019. With the 8,000 bikes already on the streets of Brazil, this brings to over 16,000 the total of PBSC bikes available across South America.

„It is very exciting to see these world-class cities responding to our urban mobility solution. It is clear that there is a demand for our technology, and we are happy to be able to provide South Americans with the best-in-class bike share system they deserve. We feel that with this latest chapter in an era of rapid growth for PBSC, we are truly moving in the right direction, as a company as well as a social movement, to get people of all ages and walks of life highly enthusiastic about bike sharing and alternative modes of transportation.“

– Luc Sabbatini, CEO of PBSC Urban Solutions

This latest foray is the result of the continued collaborative efforts between PBSC and operator Tembici., a Brazilian company specialized in the operation of bike sharing systems and the largest company in the industry in South America. Our partnership has also been instrumental in the much anticipated and highly successful rollout of bike share networks throughout six cities across Brazil.

„We are very excited to expand Tembici.’s business to cities like Santiago and Buenos Aires. Having PBSC as a partner in this growth further strengthens the shared bicycle market in South America.“

-Tomás Martins, CEO of Tembici.

By implementing this new system, PBSC is responding directly to the increased needs of the citizens, offering them the latest in technology and ergonomic design. The systems will maintain compatibility with local transit cards and the user-friendly interface will ensure a seamless transition.
